As a Freelance Assistant Account Executive for OWL Marketing, I've focused on public relations and media outreach. My roles include writing press releases, creating media guides and pitching stories to local and niche media. I've also put together press kits and key messaging documents. Some of the clients I've pitched or done work for include VocalEssence, Crapola! Granola, MN Cup, Ely Minnesota Tourism, VOM FASS--Mall of America, Minneapolis/St. Paul International Film Festival, Minnesota Center for Book Arts, Mischief Toy Store, Patisserie 46 and Bingley's Teas. ACF Showcase 2015
I handled all the publicity for the American Composers Forum 2015 ACF Showcase. The challenge was in how to market the unique flavor of the recital, which was comprised of pieces for a special kind of electronic piano. I successfully met the attendance goal for the Showcase by pitching the news to local arts and music media and publishing the event in calendars for media outlets. Access Press' The Real Story
In 2013, I worked for Access Press, to promote their documentary The Real Story: Media Coverage of Disability Issues in Minnesota. The documentary, a partnership with UCare, was set to debut with a corporate screening, followed by a smaller viewing for local college students. Once I wrote the boilerplate for the event, I formatted an e-invitation for the corporate screening and created an e-blast to send to guests and interested community organizations. I managed invitations and RSVPs from individual guests and corporations. I also created and maintained Facebook and Twitter pages for the lead-up to the event, and live-Tweeted during the screening. The corporate screening was attended by over 250 people, and the student screening had a great showing as well.
